Prime Time featured in Chipotle’s Farm to Foil campaign

As it does every year, Prime Time International Produce will be exhibiting at the 2019 PMA Foodservice Conference in Monterey, CA, at booth No. 520.

“Our main focus will be on colored peppers and sweet mini peppers,” said Katy Johnson, marketing director at the Coachella, CA-based company. “We will also highlight asparagus and our line of seasonal items.”

Additionally, Prime Time’s foodservice specialists will be on hand to offer information on the company, Prime Time products, and its vast array of packaging options that cater to the needs of many different types of customers.

SQUARE-FINAL-9-yellow-bin-field “As always, Prime Time continues to search for ways to provide our customers with the best products, packaging and service possible,” Johnson said. “Our quest at this show has always been a mission to find out how we can better serve our foodservice customers’ wants and needs. It is a constant work in progress as the industry evolves and changes on both sides.”

Those at Prime Time consider the PMA Foodservice show to be one of the company’s most important shows of the year, as it allows team members to meet with customers, re-evaluate and improve upon our current programs, and nurture the relationships that they have developed over the years.

“Our foodservice customers are the ones we depend on day in and day out. They are not influenced as much by market fluctuations as retail customers and therefore we can count on them for the consistent movement of steady volume on a weekly basis,” Johnson said. “We have the opportunity to meet with our customers in a smaller environment than some of the bigger expos, which leads to more quality one-on-one time. Of course, our hope and goal is to find potentially new opportunities in the foodservice category as well.”

Besides, Johnson added, spending time creating bonds that reach beyond a telephone and computer screen proves to be an invaluable tool in today’s digital world.

Prime Time is extremely excited about the unveiling of its foodservice partner Chipotle’s Farm to Foil campaign featuring Prime Time as one of its fresh produce suppliers.

“Both Prime Time and Calavo had the unique opportunity to participate in the unfolding of the Chipotle story which is beginning to be featured on several media platforms,” Johnson said. “The new Farm to Foil TV commercials have already started airing and will continue to be released in the near future. You can see several Prime Time faces and growing locations in these ad spots, which is a very exciting and proud moment for us.”

Around the farms, Prime Time is experiencing many of the challenges that those in California do every year, as in the summer it’s often a struggle dealing with Mother Nature.

“The crazy weather we have seen across the board has created a year like no other,” Johnson said. “It’s kind of like driving with a blindfold on. You never know what is around the next bend. Although the ride in 2019 has been a highly unpredictable journey thus far, and frustrating at times, all in all it has been a good year. We anticipate some stabilization in production throughout the summer and fall, which will be a welcome sight.”

Plus, with the labor laws becoming more stringent and water issues more prominent, growers are being forced to find new and creative alternatives to the way things have been done in the past.
