World Floral Expo back to Chicago March 20-22

After a successful trade show in the Chicago area four years ago, World Floral Expo will have its 2018 edition again in Rosemont, IL, according to a news release. It will meet March 20-22 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, immediately northwest of Chicago.

WFE-2014Shlomo Danieli and Jeanne Wessar from Alon Hagalil and Blooming of Beloit. After the 2014 show, exhibitors expressed the wish to organize another WFE at the Rosemont Convention Center. Rosemont is only a 10-minute distance from O’Hare Airport and 30 minutes from downtown Chicago.

The show’s focus this year will be on African-grown flowers. Kenya Airways has finally secured landing slots in the United States, so the door is opening for Kenyan flower producers to begin exporting to the U.S. market. Although the new flight connection is still only to JFK Airport in New York, it is expected that more cities will soon follow. For this reason, a group of at least 12 Kenyan flower growers has already signed up for WFE and will exhibit their fresh cut, Kenyan-grown flowers.

Therefore, this year’s trade show will prove interesting for importers, wholesale distributors and mass-market retailers, as different types of flowers from the “Big Four” will be on display. Growers from Colombia, Ecuador, Ethiopia and Kenya have confirmed their presence with reservations for individual stands as well as country pavilions, assuring that WFE is the place for U.S. flower buyers to meet with international flower growers.
