Marc Kirby takes on executive role at Coastline

Coastline Family Farms announced that Marc Kirby has joined the company as the vice president of finance and accounting, a newly created position.kriby

“I am excited to have Marc join the Coastline Family Farms organization as we continue to expand our production base and explore new avenues to best serve our clients,” said Robert Verloop, chief operating officer and general manager. “We recently announced a new joint venture for dry onion production in Oregon, when combined with our California production, we will have full year round dry onion program on the west coast. Having someone with Marc’s experience will enable us to properly incorporate our various business units under a single consolidated structure”

Kirby previously worked at Berry Pack and Sambrailo Packaging in the role of business operations manager and chief financial officer/controller, respectively. His career has included finance, accounting, executive management positions and an accounting instructor at Cabrillo College. Kirby is a Certified Public Accountant, with a Master’s Degree in taxation and a Bachelor's degree in commerce and accounting.

In recent times I have been on the vendor/manufacturing side of the produce industry, to now return to production side is an interesting and exciting opportunity,” said Kirby. “I have worked for several family owned companies and see in the Cox family the same passion, drive and values. I look forward to being part of a dynamic team that has a passion for produce, focus on customer service and building a profitable business model.”

“Tina and I took full control of Coastline two-and-a-half years ago with the vision to leverage the resources and expertise across our various business’s we operate in Brawley, CA, Salinas, CA, Hermiston, OR, and Mexicali, MX," said Larry Cox, chief executive officer and grower/owner of Coastline. "Marc’s unique background as a CPA, tax specialist, CFO and broad business management in California and Mexico will be an tremendous asset as we continue to focus on our customers and look for ways to work faster, smarter and more efficiently.”

Kirby will report to Verloop and work in the Salinas office. This is a new position at Coastline Family Farms brought about due to the pending retirement on May 15 of Barbara Morgan, the company's controller for the last 18 years. “Barbara has been integral to the growth of Coastline Family Farms, we will miss her dedication and support of the growers, staff and the overall Coastline organization,” said Cox.
