Tom Pease, who spent more than half a century in the produce industry, primarily in the southern New Jersey area, died Friday, April 17, surrounded by his family, following a battle with cancer. He was 69 years old, and a resident of Vineland, NJ, the hub of the south Jersey produce deal.
Thomas Robert Pease was born in Sea Isle City, NJ, to the late John and Helen (Mounier) Pease. He graduated from Vineland High School in 1969, and then graduated from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY, in 1973, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science.
His produce career began in sales at William Consalo & Sons in Vineland, where he spent about 45 years, his wife, Diane, told The Produce News Tuesday, April 21. He joined Marolda Farms, also in Vineland, in 2014, where he worked in sales and logistics, according to Richard Marolda Jr.
Mr. Pease was an active parishioner at St. Isidore the Farmer Church, where he was a member of the parish council and choir, and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
In addition to his wife, Diane, of 40 years, Mr. Pease is survived by sons David (Janine) Gentilini, Thomas A. Pease (Kim) and Michael R. Pease (Grace); grandchildren Madeline, Mackenzie, RaeLynn and Everhett; his sister, Barbara Beckford (John); his sister-in-law Lynn Johnson (Barry); and many nieces and nephews.
