Bill Litvin retiring from Giorgio Fresh

Bill Litvin, who has been with Giorgio Fresh Co. for 33 years, will be retiring at the end of March.Litvin6192

Litvin, senior vice president of sales at Giorgio Fresh, told The Produce News at the Southeast Produce Council’s Southern Exposure in Orlando, FL, that his last day at the company would be March 31.

Litvin’s first job was working in his father’s meat processing facility. “I worked there before school, after school and on weekends,” he recalled. “It was a great training ground.”

After spending a short time at “one of the big companies,” he joined Giorgio in December 1986. “And I felt at home when I came to Giorgio,” he said.

His first job at the company was in the procurement department. “I was a buyer,” he said, with the title of purchasing manager. He did that for about nine years, “and then they asked me if I wanted to go into sales.”

He started in international sales, then was moved into foodservice sales. “But finally I got home to where I wanted to be, which was in fresh sales,” he said. “And I’ve been happy ever since.”

He noted, “I come from a family business background, so I felt at home when I came to Giorgio. There are relationships at Giorgio that are longstanding and very personal. And it’s just been a great place to spend 33 years of my career.”

William Mark Litvin was born Oct. 18, 1952, in Pottstown, PA. He attended the University of Redlands in Southern California. He and his wife, Beth, who have been married for 33 years, live in Redding, PA.

Asked if he had any plans after retirement, Litvin replied, “We’ve been talking about taking a trip on the trans-Canadian railroad. We’ve been talking about spending more time with family.” He added, “And sleeping late is one thing I’m looking forward to.”
